Search Engine Optimisation

Those that spend their time creating and managing web sites can become obsessed with SEO. And hand-in-hand with that obsession comes a preoccupation with the behemoth that is Google.

Google is known to almost everybody these days, even if they have never used a PC in their life. And with their ever growing raft of innovative web applications, it’s arguable that Google have become one of the world’s leaders in web development.

But in spite of all of that, the “Big G” is still best known for its search engine.

All Hail Google – King of The Search Engines !

Google is still the first port of call for almost every surfer wanting to find a route to information that they need. So dominant is Google’s position that their name has even been “verbed”, as in “I just Googled it”, meaning you used Google to search on a word, phrase or other piece of information.

And this is why webmasters obsess about getting prominent listings for their pages, citing the undeniable logic that the easier your web site is to find (be it via Google, or anybody else for that matter), the more likely it will be visited. And if you’re in business, that means you’re more likely to have those visitors as customers, be it online or in the flesh.

Of course, during the early days of the web, there was much less competition and it was relatively easy to get on the front page of any search. But as web usage grew, this became more difficult and a thriving SEO industry sprang up, even before Google become the predominant search engine.

With the colossal mushrooming of web activity, search engines are more of a feature in our on-line lives than every before. Many people make Google the home page for their web browser, just because it’s usually the first page they need.

So if you’re in business on-line (and you should be), it’s important to give your web site the best possible chance of being found.

Boosting your page ranking.

The days of just “keyword stuffing” your meta tags to boost your SEO ranking are long gone. Things are a bit more sophisticated these days.

And despite what you may be told, each web site is a separate and unique case. There is no “one size fits all” strategy that will guarantee you the top position. Besides, Google are constantly refining their search and ranking algorithms. So what worked yesterday may not work today or tomorrow. (Can anybody say Google-slap ?)

Can you help ?

Because the whole SEO edifice is always on these shifting sands, we will never make extravagant claims that “guarantee” the top spot. But we feel that in almost all cases, we can improve your web site’s ranking. There may be something relatively straightforward that we can tweak. Or it may need a longer term approach to boost your ranking.
